A HISTORY OF JEWS IN UKRAINE

Back by popular demand, tour the thousand-year history of Jewish presence in Ukraine with Evgenia Kepminski, owner and tour guide of the Online Jewish Travel Club.

Shed light on the Jewish history in influential towns such as Mariupol, Kherson, Kiev, Kharkiv. These major cultural epicenters of Ukrainian life are also homes to strong Jewish communities. Unfortunately, these towns have recently made headlines around the world for the bombardment they have experienced from the Russian offensive.

In addition, we’ll explore the two major ‘cradles of Ukrainian Jewish culture’. One is in Odesa, a huge port city on the Black Sea in the east of the country, and the other is in Galicia, a massive region in the west that includes parts of Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland. The Galician region is where many Wisconsin Jews are from.

At the forefront of our thoughts, is the struggles of all Ukrainian people who have suffered greatly from years of aggression.
