JEWISH DEPICTIONS FROM PICASSO
In celebration of the exhibit, Degenerate!, explore the life and work of Pablo Picasso. Labeled as a degenerate, Picasso was maligned by the Nazis for promoting ‘feeble-mindedness’ and damaging notions of reality. He was lumped in with other so-called degenerate elements of European culture, all of which traced back to Jews and Judaism in the Nazi mindset.
But just how much was Picasso influenced by Jewish thought and how does he depict Jews in his work? Evgenia Kempinski, owner and tour guide of the Online Jewish Travel Club, will examine these questions and more in this compelling examination of one of the 20th century’s most prominent artists.
