Inspired Travel brings you behind-the-scenes to experience art, inspiration and historical perspectives throughout Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. Our trips offer travelers the unique opportunity to learn with the guidance of JMM’s Curator, Molly Dubin.
Did you know that more than 100 circuses began in Wisconsin? Join Jewish Museum Milwaukee to celebrate Wisconsin’s long-standing circus tradition with a behind-the-scenes tour of Circus World in Baraboo, the major participant in the Great Circus Parade held in Milwaukee from 1963 to 2009.
Our tour will include a 1960s-inspired circus performance called “Summer of Luv Under the Big Top,” a comedy-variety show called “Nothing But Nonsense,” a behind-the-scenes tour of the Circus Wagons and the Deppe Wagon Pavilion and Restoration Shop, and a special guided tour of Robert L. Parkinson Library and Research Center, a foremost resource for circus history research and information.
♦ Please plan to gather at River Hills Park & Ride (located at I-43 and Brown Deer Rd.) at 8:15 am. A bus will pick us up there and bring the group to Circus World.
♦ Boxed lunches will be provided at noon. Each boxed lunch comes with a sandwich, chips, fruit, water or lemonade. Choose from the following sandwich options: Hamburger, Turkey Wrap (no cheese), Grilled Cheese or Salad (with turkey/no cheese). NOTE: If you require a kosher lunch, please contact Cassie A. Sacotte directly at 414-390-5757 to discuss options.
♦ The bus will return us back to the River Hills Park & Ride (located at I-43 and Brown Deer Rd.) around 6:00 pm.
♦ Circus World is ADA compliant, however, we do ask that you let us know if you will need accessible seating in the Big Top.
♦ Circus World also offers golf cart assistance from location to location for those with mobility challenges. Each cart can hold 5 guests plus the driver. We ask that all that can walk do with space utilized for those that need assistance.
