Date(s) - Thursday, May 23rd
7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Jewish Museum Milwaukee
Everyone loves a story! Enjoy the evening while being entertained, engaged and emboldened by Milwaukeeans sharing their stories.
Inspired by the fortitude of Jewish Partisan Faye Schulman, community members will share their personal story of “Untold Stories of Resistance.” Stories large and small will inform and inspire. For this noncompetitive curated StorySlam, storytellers are selected from our “Untold Stories of Resistance Workshop,” where each teller works with an Ex Fabula storytelling coach to prepare their true story on the theme of resistance. Storytellers will be announced in May.
Audience members can also participate in the storytelling by submitting UltraShorts, which are brief, true personal stories written on slips of paper and read onstage by the Ex Fabula emcee.
Museum Members $10 | Nonmembers $12
Complimentary Beer and Wine
About Ex Fabula: Ex Fabula strengthens community bonds through the art of true, personal storytelling. Ex Fabula, which is Latin for “from stories”, presents storytelling workshops, StorySlams and Community Collaborations where people listen to each other, feel heard, and grow in empathy and understanding. Special projects like the Ex Fabula Fellowship, the Puente Project, and Equal Access use personal stories to address the factors that divide us, and Ex Fabula Radio on 89.7 WUWM extends the reach of powerful stories told by community members.
Sponsored by Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.
